What do U8 Groups do

University groups are the heart and soul of the U8. They connect and inspire students at the university level. They provide a face-to-face element to the U8 experience and complement the online global community.

Relationship between university groups and the global exec

The global executive committee provides the infrastructure for U8 members to connect, question and learn. This includes the online platform, U8 publications and U8 projects amongst other things.

The main contact point of university groups to the global exec is the Vice President for University Links. The University Links team collects and shares the best ideas from our groups and can provide advice on how to build and grow your U8 group.

Things university groups should do:

  1. Meet up regularly to plan and organise the U8 locally
  2. Hold events to get people thinking about development issues
  3. Publicise the U8 and available opportunities
  4. Keep in touch with University Links team by email or telephone, and share ideas with other university groups online
