Taking place over 3 days (5th - 7th February 2010) at the Said Business School in Oxford, this year's conference will focus on the theme 'Development in Crisis and Conflict'.  The central focus will be on how development can survive and flourish in areas of military conflict, natural disaster, and humanitarian and social crisis.  Our speakers will address these issues in their own distinctive ways; creativity, innovation and spontaneity will be the defining features of the conference.

5th World Youth Congress: Turkey 2010

The World Youth Congress series is the major, regular youth gathering that champions Youth-led Development and promotes the role of young people in global affairs. Open to all, it brings together young development activists, media people, entrepreneurs, artists and educators in a 10-day programme of seminars, skills workshops and cultural events. You will meet development professionals from government, the UN, development NGOs and research institutes and plan policies that promote a more effective role for youth in development. You will also take part in an exhibition of the latest achievements in Youth-led Development around the world.

One unique feature of each World Youth Congress is the action projects: for five days, congress delegates will travel out across Turkey to take part in local, community improvement projects, getting their hands dirty and, as one delegate said, “leaving a footprint on the soil of the host country”.

Most of all, you will meet a thousand young individuals from 100+ countries who, like you, care passionately about our planet and its future. You will make friends for life, have an amazing fun time and change your life in more ways than you could imagine.

For more information, go to www.turkiye2010.org. The deadline for applications is the 31st January 2010.

Food and accommodation are provided for all accepted applicants. Delegates are responsible only for their travel costs to/from Istanbul, Turkey.
